Serendipity Sunday - It's a small, small world!

Researching the maternal genealogy of my friend I noticed how her mother’s 2 family lines cross many times since their arrival in New France in the 1600’s, although they don’t come together until 1908 when the families unite in marriage.

Also, one of her ancestors was a fur trader who went to The Sault and traded with my husband’s ancestor who had bought the trading post there.

My husband’s ancestor at one time lived near my ex’s ancestor. (That’s just weird!)

My grandmother, at age 16, was in the same Ladies Association in 1910 as her future mother-in-law.

I have another friend whose ancestor was most likely from the same clan in Lochiel, Ontario as the woman who married MY ancestor’s brother in Montreal.

There is another connection, this time concerning the James Bay Inn, Victoria, BC, built in 1911. After WWI it was used as a Soldier’s Settlement for men returning from the war, and my grandfather’s uncle stayed there from 1919 until 1927, when he married. During WWII it was bought by a religious order and operated as St Mary’s Priory.  My good friend’s ancestor was a patient there when she died in 1945.  We’re practically related!!!
Did you find some connections in your research?

  1. And there still that fact that your relatives and mine lived in Point St Charles and Verdun in close proximity and time. Wel will have to chat about that sometime.

And I was in contact yesterday and this morning with someone whose ancestor was in the photo I posted in yesterday's article - the Ladies Aid Society of the Verdun United Church. Awesome!

"I have another friend whose ancestor was most likely from the same clan in Lochiel, Ontario as the woman who married MY ancestor’s brother in Montreal" It is quite surprising sometimes how small our world truly is :S
